Bhubaneswar: In a noteworthy achievement, the Odisha Police has effectively solved a mobile theft case, culminating in a conviction just 17 days after the incident was reported.

The theft, involving four mobile phones and two earbuds, was recorded at the Rengali Police Station on September 9, leading to the arrest of the suspect, Sanatan Kishan, aged 26.

During his interrogation, authorities recovered two phones and one earbud from his residence, as stated by Samarendra Nayak, the officer in charge of the investigation.

The investigation progressed rapidly; the charge-sheet was filed on September 19, and charges were formally established by September 21.

On September 25, Civil Judge Jaya Ray of the Lakhanpur court sentenced the defendant to six months of simple imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000.

This entire procedure, commencing from the filing of the FIR on September 9 to the final conviction on September 25, was completed in a remarkable span of just 17 days.

Jharsuguda Superintendent of Police Gundala Reddy Raghavendra remarked that this case exemplifies the dedication of law enforcement to thorough investigations, effective prosecution, and the delivery of prompt justice to victims.
