The Odisha Police has rolled out the e-Zero FIR System specifically designed for cases of cyber financial fraud, representing a significant advancement in technology-driven policing.

At the State Police Headquarters, Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, IPS, inaugurated the system, underscoring the department’s dedication to a citizen-focused and transparent approach to law enforcement.

The State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB) has successfully integrated the National Cybercrime Helpline 1930 with Odisha’s Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS). This integration facilitates the automatic creation of e-Zero FIR requests for qualifying cyber financial fraud complaints, irrespective of jurisdiction.

For fraud cases amounting to ₹10 lakh and above that are reported via Helpline 1930, e-Zero FIR requests will be automatically generated and directed to the Cyber Police Station within the Crime Branch of Odisha. Based on the specifics of the case, the Cyber Police have the authority to either file a standard FIR, transfer the complaint, associate it with an existing case, or close it if it fails to meet the necessary criteria.

This new system is designed to eliminate the need for duplicate data entry, expedite the registration process for cases, and enhance collaboration among various law enforcement agencies. It also provides a mechanism for complainants to efficiently monitor the status of their cases.

During the launch, DGP Khurania reaffirmed that Odisha Police will persist in leveraging technology to bolster their response to cybercrime and ensure timely justice. He encouraged citizens to promptly report instances of cyber financial fraud through Helpline 1930 to mitigate further losses.
