Jharsuguda district in Odisha experienced the highest rainfall in the state within 24 hours, accumulating 114.3 mm, as heavy downpours were reported across western Odisha.
The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued a red alert for heavy rainfall in north Bengal until Monday, with an increase in rainfall expected in south Bengal, including Kolkata, starting Tuesday.
Odisha is experiencing extreme weather with a deep trough line leading to scorching temperatures in the west and severe thunderstorms in the south and coastal regions.
