The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that a new low-pressure area is anticipated to develop over the Bay of Bengal within the next 24 hours, increasing the chances of substantial rainfall in Odisha.
According to officials, a cyclonic circulation that was previously located over Myanmar and surrounding regions has now moved to the northern Bay of Bengal and nearby coastal areas of West Bengal and Bangladesh, reaching altitudes of up to 5.8 kilometers above the average sea level.
This shift is expected to lead to the formation of a low-pressure system, thereby intensifying rainfall activities across Odisha in the upcoming days.
The IMD has urged fishermen and individuals residing in low-lying regions to exercise caution, as the local weather center is actively monitoring the developing situation. Additional alerts regarding rainfall patterns, wind velocities, and sea conditions are anticipated.
This development represents a notable progression in the monsoon conditions over the Bay of Bengal, with Odisha preparing for heavy rains and the potential for flood-like situations in susceptible districts.
