Sonpur: On Saturday, two minor girls were rescued after they reportedly jumped into the Mahanadi River from the Binika bridge in Sonpur district, Odisha.

Locals fishing in the river noticed the girls and quickly helped them out of the water before alerting the fire service.

A team from Binika Fire Station promptly arrived at the scene and transported the girls to a nearby hospital. After receiving initial medical care, they were moved to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for further treatment.

It has been reported that one girl is from the Binika region, while the other hails from Boudhagada.

The reasons and circumstances that prompted the minors to jump into the river remain unclear, and authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter.
