The Enforcement Directorate (ED) executed raids at Neetu Bai’s home in Nanakramguda on Thursday, as part of a money laundering inquiry. Neetu Bai is accused of smuggling and distributing ganja to clients in her locality and is currently evading arrest.
The investigation by the ED was initiated following a First Information Report (FIR) filed by the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) in Telangana. Neetu Bai managed to escape arrest during a special operation conducted by EAGLE in June 2026.
At 48 years old, Neetu Bai, a Dhoolpet resident, allegedly sold cannabis from Lotha Basti in Nanakramguda, primarily targeting IT professionals in the area. Authorities indicated that she has been underground for over a year while still orchestrating her operations through various associates.
With more than 20 cases registered against her under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, Neetu Bai reportedly generates daily earnings of approximately Rs 2.60 lakh and possesses assets worth crores. Her name has become synonymous with the city’s drug trade, placing her at the top of the Telangana excise police’s wanted list.
Special teams from the Telangana Special Task Force (TG-STF) are currently pursuing Neetu Bai, who is also known by aliases such as Ganja Neetu and Ganja Kalavati, and is a relative of recently apprehended criminal Angoori Bai.
Neetu Bai’s entry into the ganja trade is said to be linked to her family’s business. Married to Munnu Singh, she has two sons and has equipped her home with numerous note-counting machines, indicating her role as a large-scale ganja importer and supplier within the state.
She is also known by the name Kalavati in regions including Visakhapatnam, Odisha, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Uttar Pradesh, showcasing her extensive connections with ganja cultivators across these states. Following the initiation of ‘Operation Dhoolpet’ by the police, she has altered her operational tactics.
Neetu Bai is believed to manage a network of over 300 peddlers and suppliers, making her one of the most prominent figures in the city’s drug distribution scene. She has a significant client base, particularly among IT employees seeking home delivery services. Authorities noted that she possesses substantial assets in affluent areas of the city.
In August 2023, she was arrested by the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau and Golconda police, during which it was revealed that she held a bank balance exceeding Rs 180 crore alongside immovable properties valued at over Rs 4.80 crore, which were subsequently seized. However, she was later granted bail and resumed her operations.
