Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is preparing for the state’s second international investment outreach, undertaking a three-day visit to the United Arab Emirates from September 8. This initiative is part of the government’s intensified efforts to lure global investments and boost industrial development.
The upcoming trip to the UAE aligns with Odisha’s comprehensive strategy to connect with international investors, institutions, and business leaders, while promoting the state’s industrial potential, investment prospects, and favorable business environment.
During his stay, the chief minister is anticipated to engage in a series of interactions, including government-to-business and business-to-business meetings, as well as investment discussions and presentations that will emphasize Odisha’s economic and industrial advantages.
The focus areas for this outreach will encompass sectors such as manufacturing, metals and downstream industries, energy, petrochemicals, aluminium, logistics, food processing, and emerging industries.
With its advantageous location, robust infrastructure, abundant natural resources, skilled labor force, and a growing industrial sector, Odisha is striving to establish itself as a prime location for quality investments.
Hemant Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary of Industries, Home, and I&PR departments, noted that the UAE offers significant opportunities for deeper collaboration with investors and business leaders.
“Odisha today presents a strong combination of resources, infrastructure, policy support, connectivity, and a rapidly expanding industrial ecosystem. Our objective is to build partnerships that translate into investments, industrial growth, and employment opportunities in Odisha,” Sharma stated.
The visit will also aim to strengthen ties with the Indian business and professional community, as well as the Odia diaspora in the UAE.
Official reports indicate that Odisha has garnered investment proposals totaling approximately Rs 21 lakh crore over the last two years. Among these, industrial projects involving about Rs 3.5 lakh crore have already been launched or are in the process of commencement.
These projects are anticipated to generate significant employment across various sectors, creating new job opportunities for the youth and skilled workforce of Odisha.
The outreach initiative in the UAE is expected to advance the state government’s objectives of turning investment proposals into actionable projects, fostering industrialization, and creating sustainable employment, thereby enhancing Odisha’s visibility on the global investment landscape.
