In light of the current flooding situation, all schools in the flood-stricken regions of Jajpur and Bhadrak districts of Odisha will be closed today as a precautionary action by the local authorities.
In Jajpur district alone, 314 schools from eight blocks — Bari, Dasarathpur, Binjharpur, Rasulpur, Korei, Dharmasala, Jajpur, and Barchana — will not hold classes.
This decision was made following guidance from the district collector, prioritizing the safety of students amid adverse flood conditions.
The district education department has also issued a notice to inform about the school closures.
In Bhadrak district, a similar measure has resulted in 260 schools across five blocks — Bhadrak, Tihidi, Dhamnagar, Bhandaripokhari, and Chandbali — being declared closed for the day.
Overall, a total of 574 schools across Jajpur and Bhadrak districts will remain shut today due to the ongoing flood challenges and restoration efforts in the affected areas.
