As the southwest monsoon intensifies across India, numerous states are facing significant challenges from heavy rainfall. In response to worsening weather, Bhadrak district in Odisha announced the closure of 126 schools on August 20. The district administration has mandated that schools in the blocks of Bhadrak, Tihidi, Dhamnagar, Bhandaripokhari, and Chandbali remain shut due to recent floods and ongoing restoration efforts.
This precautionary measure aims to safeguard the well-being of students, staff, and other individuals associated with the schools. Prior to this, on August 19, the district administration had ordered the closure of 297 schools across six blocks to prioritize student safety.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated a potential improvement in weather conditions for the district, forecasting a mainly cloudy sky with possible light rain or thunderstorms over the coming days.

This closure affects all schools, whether they are affiliated with the Board of Secondary Education, the Council of Higher Secondary Education, or the CBSE, among others. Additionally, all government, aided, and unaided colleges and higher education institutions in Manipur will also remain shut during this period. Schools and colleges are scheduled to resume on Monday, August 23.
Students and their parents across India are encouraged to stay informed by monitoring school broadcasting groups and district administrative announcements.
