Bhubaneswar: The Meteorological Centre has released a nowcast warning indicating that light to moderate rain, accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms, is likely to impact residents until approximately 4 PM on Sunday.

As per the advisory issued at 12:35 PM, the inclement weather is predicted to affect specific areas within Bhubaneswar (Khordha district) and Cuttack (Cuttack district), along with other districts including Baleshwar, Puri, Mayurbhanj, Jagatsinghpur, Kandhamala, Boudh, Ganjam, and Nayagada. Citizens are encouraged to monitor the evolving weather conditions closely and adjust their travel plans and activities for safety.

Earlier warnings were also disseminated for the regions of Koraput, Gajapati, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Kendrapada, with the monsoon trough currently stretching from Jaisalmer, Kota, and Indore, through the low-pressure area in north Vidarbha and adjacent Madhya Pradesh, extending to Puri and moving southeast towards the eastern central Bay of Bengal.

On Saturday, the weather agency predicted a brief respite in rainfall across Odisha for two days commencing Sunday, before intensifying again in various parts of the state. Isolated instances of heavy rainfall are anticipated to return from September 15 to 17.

A yellow warning for thunderstorms, lightning, and strong surface winds has been issued for September 13-14, affecting the districts of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagada. Similar conditions are expected in several districts on September 14-15.

For September 15-16, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced a yellow warning for heavy rainfall in Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj districts.

Moreover, yellow warnings for heavy rain have been issued for Jajpur, Kendujhar, and Mayurbhanj from September 16-17, with Mayurbhanj likely to experience heavy rainfall on September 17-18.
