Odisha Police Holds Significant Orientation for 80 New Sub-Inspectors

The Office of the Inspector General of Police for the Central Range organized an extensive orientation program today for approximately 80 newly appointed Sub-Inspectors at the Padhee Memorial Hall within the IPS Officers’ Mess in Kataka.

Under the leadership of Shri Vinaytosh Mishra, IPS, DGP (HoPF) of Odisha, the event gathered officers from all seven districts in the Central Range: Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagarh.

Emphasizing Core Values in Law Enforcement

Dr. Satyajit Naik, IGP of Central Range, Kataka, served as the Chief Guest and underscored the essential values that underpin effective policing: discipline, integrity, sensitivity to citizens, and a steadfast commitment to legal principles.

In his address to the young officers, Dr. Naik highlighted the importance of continuously enhancing skills to adapt to the changing landscape of crime. He remarked, “True policing lies in balancing firm legal enforcement with empathy toward the public,” while urging the new recruits to carry out their responsibilities with fairness and professional pride.

Addressing Cybercrime and Professional Development

As cybercrime incidents surge across the country, Shri Madkar Sandeep Sampat, IPS, DIG of the Crime Branch in Odisha, delivered a pivotal session as the Guest of Honour, focusing on the growing challenges posed by digital offenses. He educated the Sub-Inspectors about new technological threats, advanced investigative techniques, and the necessity of enhancing digital skills to tackle sophisticated online crimes.

Dr. Ram Kishore Sharma from National Career Services, a former head of NCDS at the Government of India, added a comprehensive perspective on professional development. He provided insights into career advancement strategies, stress management, and workplace ethics, encouraging the officers to adopt a balanced and responsible mindset in high-pressure situations.

Leadership Guidance from District Superintendents

The orientation also facilitated direct exchanges between the newly appointed Sub-Inspectors and senior district leaders. Senior IPS officers and Superintendents of Police, including:

  • Parmar Smit, IPS (SP, Khordha)
  • Prateek Singh, IPS (SP, Puri)
  • Vinith Agarwal, IPS (SP, Cuttack)
