In Jaleswar, it has been reported that hundreds of trucks are illegally transporting sand through the Udaipur border in Balasore, moving from Odisha to West Bengal on a daily basis. This activity has sparked concerns among local residents, especially given the existence of a police camp in the vicinity.

Community members have expressed frustration, claiming that their numerous complaints have gone unaddressed, allowing the illegal sand transport to persist without intervention.

On Saturday evening, some youths reportedly faced violence from sand traffickers when they tried to stop a few of these trucks from crossing the border. Witnesses say that despite the locals’ efforts, the sand-laden vehicles sped past into West Bengal.

Residents are now calling for an immediate end to the illegal sand transportation and for authorities to take decisive action against those responsible.
