Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], August 2 (ANI): For President Droupadi Murmu’s official visit to Odisha scheduled from August 3 to 5, significant security and traffic measures have been implemented. Approximately 40 platoons of police and nearly 150 officers will be assigned to manage the security, according to a senior police official.

The security plan encompasses a large deployment of police forces, specialized units, and undercover officers, as well as traffic control arrangements in the areas where the President will be present.

Police Commissioner S Devadutta Singh addressed the media on Saturday, indicating that the President’s agenda will involve events within the jurisdiction of the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police, along with other locations throughout Odisha.

“The President will be on an official visit to Odisha from 3 to 5 August. During the visit, the President will attend programmes within the jurisdiction of the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police, as well as at other locations across the state,” Singh stated.

He further assured that thorough preparations have been made to facilitate the President’s secure movement during her stay.

“Comprehensive security, traffic management, and logistical arrangements have been established to ensure the President’s safe movement. Around 40 platoons of police, nearly 150 officers, and specialized security units, such as the Special Tactical Unit (STU) and Special Technical Group (STG), along with plainclothes personnel, will be deployed,” the Police Commissioner added.

In a related event, President Murmu recently initiated the PBG Soldierathon at the Forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan. This initiative aims to enhance the connection between civilians and the Armed Forces. The run celebrates the military heritage of the President’s Bodyguard (PBG), marking 253 years of service while also honoring the 27th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas.

General (Retd) VK Singh, Governor of Mizoram and patron of the initiative, was present at the ceremony.

The event, described as a unique opportunity to foster relationships between civilians and the Armed Forces, is themed ‘Supporting Real Heroes – the Armed Forces of India’. It emphasizes the dedication, bravery, and sacrifices of soldiers while motivating citizens to actively participate in solidarity with them.
