Bhubaneswar: Braj Mohan Ram is poised to take his oath as the new Governor of Odisha on Sunday, October 18, officially commencing his tenure. He will take over from Hari Babu Kambhampati, who began his term on January 3, 2025.
Ram arrived in Bhubaneswar on Saturday, where he was greeted with a ceremonial guard of honour at Biju Patnaik International Airport. He received a warm welcome from Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and other high-ranking officials.
The oath-taking ceremony is set to be held at Lok Bhavan, with Orissa High Court Chief Justice Harish Tandon officiating the proceedings.
Attendees will include Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik, various ministers, and other notable figures.
A seasoned politician, Ram has served as a three-time Lok Sabha MP for Palamu in Jharkhand, representing the constituency in the years 1996, 1998, and 1999. He was also a member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from 1991 to 1995.
His appointment as Odisha Governor was made by President Droupadi Murmu on October 12, amid a larger reshuffling of governors.
After the swearing-in ceremony, Ram plans to visit Puri to offer his prayers at the Shree Jagannath Temple.
