Bhubaneswar: The Central Government has appointed Amitendra Nath Sinha, a senior IPS officer from Odisha, as the Inspector General (IG) of the Border Security Force (BSF).
Sinha, who belongs to the 2002 batch of the Odisha cadre, is currently serving as the IG in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
A notification from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs states that Sinha will remain in this role from the date he assumes office until July 10, 2028, unless the government issues further instructions.
Since July 11, 2023, Sinha has been on a five-year central deputation, and this new BSF position represents a lateral shift within his ongoing central tenure.
Prior to his current central posting, Sinha held significant roles within the Odisha Police, including serving as the Inspector General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) – Crime Branch.
