Bhubaneswar: Coal India Limited (CIL) has opened a tender for an 80 MW / 320 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Odisha, which will be executed through a comprehensive engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) approach.

This tender is being issued on behalf of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited, a subsidiary of CIL.

The BESS initiative will be implemented across four sites: Bhatli, Basta, Padampur, and New Balangir, and will include a comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M) period of 15 years. The deadline for submitting bids is set for October 9, 2026.

The chosen EPC contractor will be responsible for developing the BESS infrastructure along with the necessary power evacuation system, covering the entire scope of work outlined in the tender.
