Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced a forecast for significant rainfall over western Odisha, expected to last for two days, prompting an orange alert for multiple districts on July 7.

As per the IMD’s midday bulletin, isolated heavy to very heavy rains are anticipated in one or two locations across Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Balangir, Sonepur, and Nuapada on July 7.

Moreover, a yellow warning has been issued for the same day for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, Nabarangapur, and Kalahandi, where isolated heavy rainfall is likely to occur in select areas.

The rain intensity is expected to diminish by July 8.

According to IMD forecasts, only Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar will remain under a yellow alert for isolated heavy rainfall on this date.

The weather agency has urged district authorities in the orange alert regions to keep a close watch on low-lying areas and be prepared for potential waterlogging and traffic disruptions.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed about local weather conditions and to refrain from unnecessary travel during heavy rain events.
