Amit Shah to Visit West Bengal for Post-Election Strategy Meetings

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit West Bengal on Thursday evening as part of the BJP’s ongoing political activities following the party’s historic win in the state.

According to top BJP sources, Shah will first attend the cabinet expansion oath-taking ceremony in Bihar before heading directly to West Bengal. His visit is considered crucial as the party is actively involved in discussions regarding post-election strategies and government formation.

Upon his arrival in West Bengal, the Home Minister will lead a key meeting with senior party leaders and core committee members. This meeting will likely focus on evaluating the current political landscape, reviewing organizational readiness, and aligning leadership on future actions.

Sources indicate that ahead of the BJP Legislative Party meeting scheduled for the 8th, Shah will engage in thorough discussions with party leaders about the upcoming oath-taking ceremony in the state. Topics are expected to include the new cabinet’s composition, key portfolios, and overall governance priorities.

This visit highlights the central leadership’s active role in shaping the party’s strategy in the state and ensuring a unified approach to government formation and administrative planning.

Earlier on Tuesday, Shah was appointed as the BJP’s central observer for West Bengal, with Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi serving as the central co-observer. Additionally, Union Minister JP Nadda has been designated as the central observer for the election of the leader of the party’s legislative party in Assam, with Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini as the central co-observer.

The BJP made history a day earlier with the assembly poll results, as the party is set to form its first government in West Bengal, while the party-led NDA achieved a hat-trick of victories in Assam. According to the latest data from the Election Commission of India (ECI), the BJP has secured 206 seats out of 294 in West Bengal, significantly improving from its previous tally of 77 seats in the 2021 Assembly elections. The Trinamool Congress, which dominated the last assembly poll with 212 seats, finished second with 80 seats.
