Tripura CM Saha Criticizes Tipra Motha as 427 Join BJP at Ampinagar Rally

Agartala (Tripura) [India], April 7 (ANI): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha intensified the BJP’s campaign for the upcoming Autonomous District Council (ADC) elections by launching a strong critique of the Tipra Motha party, accusing it of misleading the indigenous population over the years.

Speaking at a public meeting in Ampinagar, Saha claimed that Tipra Motha would soon become irrelevant and expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would secure victory in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).

He noted that the BJP is contesting all 28 ADC seats independently, without any alliance partners, and accused Tipra Motha of trying to create divisions by inciting communal sentiments, which he stated had been rejected by the electorate.

Addressing governance issues, Saha alleged that despite the allocation of government funds for ADC development, there has been minimal progress and instances of significant misappropriation. He emphasized the necessity for a transparent and accountable government in the ADC.

During the rally, a significant boost for the party was marked by the joining of 427 voters into the BJP, witnessed by the Chief Minister, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, and other party leaders.

The elections in Tripura are scheduled for April 9 as part of the by-elections announced by the Election Commission of India, which coincide with Assembly polls in five states and Union Territories, including Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal.

The poll panel has declared a paid holiday for voters under the Representation of the People Act, 1951, ensuring that all eligible electors, including daily wage workers, can cast their votes.

Earlier in January, Chief Minister Manik Saha encouraged BJP workers to campaign boldly in sensitive regions ahead of the TTAADC elections, highlighting outreach initiatives and governance successes. He pointed out that improved law and order and the integration of insurgent groups like ATTF and NLFT demonstrate the government’s commitment to development.
