Odisha Government to Implement Stricter Pollution Certificate Regulations Starting Today

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is set to enforce stricter pollution certificate (PUCC) norms starting today, targeting vehicles that lack valid certificates. Vehicles without PUCC will be detected by e-detection systems at toll gates and will incur fines. This initiative aims to address the increasing pollution levels that are deteriorating the state’s air quality.

Currently, only 21% of vehicles in Odisha possess pollution certificates, with many failing to comply with regulations. The Commerce and Transport Department had previously tightened PUCC inspections but had relaxed enforcement until April 1 to raise public awareness. With this grace period concluded, enforcement will recommence, and violators will face penalties.
