In a significant development, the Odisha government has begun concrete steps to create a dedicated television channel focused on Lord Jagannath, the venerated deity known as the Lord of the Universe and a spiritual icon for millions of devotees worldwide.

A high-level meeting, led by Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, took place today at the Law Department conference hall in Lok Seva Bhawan to discuss the establishment of this exclusive Jagannath TV channel.

The discussions focused on forming a comprehensive framework for the channel, which intends to showcase daily rituals, grand festivals, and the rich cultural heritage linked to Shree Jagannath, while also disseminating the deity’s divine message globally.

Minister Harichandan described the initial discussions as “highly positive and promising,” noting that the proposed channel would act as a vibrant platform to introduce Jagannath culture to an international audience, encourage scholarly research and meaningful dialogue, and authentically reflect the deep devotion and emotions of millions of followers. He mentioned that the state government is pursuing this initiative with great enthusiasm and that a detailed roadmap will be developed in the upcoming days.

The meeting included active participation from senior officials, such as Shree Jagannath Temple Chief Administrator Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee and senior bureaucrats from the Law Department, who provided valuable insights on creating a balanced blend of devotion, culture, education, and entertainment through the channel.
