Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) announced the final results of the Odisha Civil Services (OCS) examination 2024 on Tuesday, revealing that 200 candidates, including 78 women, have successfully qualified. The top 10 also included Kanak Jain, Sangram Pradhan, Aman Goyal, Santanu Kumar Satapathy, Nitesh Kumar Barik, Seetal Patra, and Itishree Jena.
For the first time, the OPSC completed the entire recruitment process, from the publication of the advertisement to the announcement of final results, within 17 months, a significant improvement from the previous duration of 21-22 months. The commission noted that this expedited process has aligned the OCS examination calendar with the UPSC Civil Services Examination schedule, enabling candidates to prepare for both exams more efficiently.
Bubun, the exam topper, expressed his astonishment at his achievement, stating, “I thought I would secure only a rank. I am really surprised to find that I topped the exam.” A graduate of Ravenshaw University, he completed his MSc Tech in Geology from the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad. Bubun worked as a geologist starting in 2018 before successfully passing the civil services exam.
This was his second attempt at the examination; in his first attempt, he was selected for the Odisha Police Service (OPS). After clearing the civil services exam, he has been undergoing training at the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy since last year.
