Bhubaneswar: As part of the investigation into the alleged loss of two sensitive inquiry reports from the Odisha Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the Capital Police Station under the Bhubaneswar-Katka Commissionerate has issued notices to former IAS officials Upendra Nath Behera and Rajesh Verma.

According to the notices, Rajesh Verma, who currently serves as the Chairperson of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in New Delhi, is required to meet with the Investigating Officer at the office of the ACP, Zone-I, Bhubaneswar, by July 30, 2026. He is expected to provide full cooperation during the investigation.

This investigation is being conducted under Capital Police Station Case No. 460, which was registered on June 10, 2026, in accordance with relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Verma has been instructed to bring any pertinent documents, records, electronic devices, or other materials related to the inquiry. This marks the second notice he has received regarding this matter.

Additionally, Upendra Nath Behera has been summoned to appear before the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Zone-I, at 11 am on July 26 for questioning related to the case.

It is important to highlight that this investigation pertains to the alleged disappearance of two critical inquiry reports from the CMO records, specifically the Justice A.S. Naidu Commission report concerning the 2008 Kandhamal riots and the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) inquiry report on the 2016 SUM Hospital fire incident.
