Bhubaneswar: Intense heat and sweltering summer winds continue to affect Odisha, as nine locations in the state recorded temperatures exceeding 43 degrees Celsius today.
The evening bulletin from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) indicated that Boudh was the hottest area in the state, reaching 45.9°C, while Titlagarh followed closely with a temperature of 45.5°C.
Other locations where temperatures surpassed the 43 degrees Celsius threshold include Bhawanipatna (44.5°C), Nuapada (44.5°C), Jharsuguda (44.4°C), Sambalpur (44.2°C), Balangir (44.2°C), Hirakud (43.2°C), and Sonepur (43°C).
The weather department has forecasted that these extreme heatwave conditions will persist for the next four days. A red warning for heatwave and warm night conditions has been issued for several regions in the state.
Specifically, a red warning has been issued for Sambalpur and Balangir, indicating that heatwave and warm night conditions are likely to occur in isolated areas of these districts. Additionally, heatwave conditions are also expected in isolated locations within Boudh.
An orange warning has been issued, forecasting that heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in isolated areas of Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Nuapada, and Kalahandi.
