Maoist Commander Moochaki Kailash Killed in Sukma Clash

Security forces eliminated a Maoist in an encounter during a search operation in the Polampalli area of Sukma district on March 29. The deceased has been identified as Moochaki Kailash, a section commander of Platoon 31 and a PPCM cadre who was carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh.

DRG personnel initiated the operation in the forest region near the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border. They encountered heavy gunfire from Maoists, leading to Kailash’s death. Authorities recovered his body along with an automatic weapon and a substantial quantity of explosives.

The Sukma SP confirmed the operation’s success, stating that the recovery of explosives dealt a significant blow to Maoist activities in the region. Officials have urged remaining Maoists to surrender and reintegrate into society, emphasizing that rehabilitation opportunities are available for a limited time.

Kailash had been involved in Maoist operations for several years, commanding a section of Platoon 31. His death is seen as a major setback for the group’s operations in Sukma and its surrounding areas. Police have registered the case and continue combing operations in the forest to ensure no further threats exist. Security forces reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region.
