A violent incident linked to an alleged extortion dispute has left residents in Puri district of Odisha in shock after a man was brutally attacked with swords by two brothers late at night.
The incident occurred in Girima village under Gop Police Limits, where a man named Jagabandhu Mallik was reportedly chased down and assaulted with sharp weapons due to an alleged extortion issue involving two brothers.
Reports indicate that Jagabandhu was sitting at the community house in the village late at night when the two brothers confronted him and violently attacked him.
As a result of the assault, Jagabandhu suffered serious injuries to his chest, legs, back, and shoulders. Villagers, alerted by his screams, rushed to the scene and transported the victim to S.C.B Medical College and Hospital in critical condition.
Local residents suspect that the attack may be linked to an ongoing extortion dispute related to the Oil India project site. However, the police have not yet released a formal statement regarding the true motive behind the crime. Investigations are currently underway.
