The police in Bengaluru have arrested two individuals linked to the trafficking of 317 kg of ganja, estimated to be worth Rs 1.78 crore, from Odisha to Kerala, marking a major drug operation.
The arrests took place on October 12, following credible intelligence regarding the transport of a substantial quantity of ganja through Bengaluru. Officers from Kumbalgodu police station acted on this information, stopping a vehicle near Eidgah Ground in Kambipura.
According to police reports, the suspects had traveled from Kerala to Bengaluru on October 6, where they rented a self-driven car in R T Nagar. They then proceeded to Odisha to procure the ganja at a reduced price from an unidentified source.
The pair intended to transport the illegal goods through Bengaluru, aiming to sell them at a profit in Kumaramangalam, Kerala. After returning to Bengaluru on October 11, they spent the night at a hotel in Bommasandra.
Upon searching the vehicle, law enforcement officials discovered around 317 kg of ganja. Both the drugs and the vehicle were confiscated. While the seized ganja is valued at Rs 1.78 crore, its potential market value is estimated to reach Rs 3.17 crore.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify other individuals involved in the procurement, transportation, and sale of the drugs.
