During an anti-drug operation, Kerala police confiscated over 53 kg of cannabis in Olavakkode and arrested six individuals from Odisha.

The suspects have been identified as Jikhoria Digal, Anil Kumar Digal, and Khrist Digal from Kandhamal district, along with Phurandhar Khura, Judhisthir Bibhar, and Labanya Khura from Rayagada.

A collaborative effort by the Palakkad District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force and the Hemambika Nagar Police led to a raid at the Olavakkode railway station, where the cannabis was discovered.

According to police reports, the six individuals arrived at the station from Odisha by train, each carrying two large bags. Officers noticed their suspicious behavior and the heavy bags as they exited the station, prompting an interception.

Upon searching their bags, a substantial amount of cannabis was found. Initial investigations suggest that the drugs were intended for local dealers in Kerala.

The police have filed charges against the arrested individuals under the NDPS Act. Ongoing investigations aim to uncover the broader interstate drug trafficking network and identify local accomplices awaiting the delivery of the drugs outside the railway station.
