Jagatsinghpur: Following a warning from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) about heavy to very heavy rainfall, the district administration has decided to shut down all schools in Jagatsinghpur on Monday, July 27, 2026.

This precautionary measure was announced on Sunday to safeguard students amid anticipated adverse weather conditions.

An official notice from the Collector and District Magistrate’s office confirms that this closure applies to all schools in the district, including government, government-aided, and private institutions.

The directive encompasses elementary, secondary, and higher secondary schools, which includes Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs) and Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) operating in the area.

The IMD has indicated that the district may face significant rainfall, with some areas experiencing extremely heavy rain due to a low-pressure system developing over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjacent regions of Gangetic West Bengal and Northern Odisha.

The district administration has urged educational institutions, parents, and other stakeholders to adhere to the closure order and to take appropriate precautions given the current weather conditions.
