Authorities in Nimapara, located in Odisha’s Puri district, have arrested four men after a woman reported being sexually assaulted at a private guest house. The victim, who hails from Anugola, had previously worked at a guest house in Bhubaneswar before starting her job at the Nimapara location on September 1.
The woman filed her complaint with the Khandagiri Police Station on September 8. Following this, the Khandagiri police registered a Zero FIR and transferred the investigation to the Nimapara Police Station.
Details of the Allegations
Among the arrested individuals, Ramesh Das from Bhubaneswar has been pinpointed as one of the suspects. He had previously collaborated with the woman at a guest house in Bhubaneswar and allegedly convinced her to take a position at the Nimapara establishment. The victim claimed that Ramesh Das, along with another suspect named Raja, sexually assaulted her, with two additional suspects identified as Sushant and Akshay.
In her complaint, the woman asserted that all four men were employed at the guest house and that the assaults occurred repeatedly. She reported being threatened with death if she disclosed the incidents.
Police Action
Following the filing of the complaint, the Nimapara police initiated a case and arrested all four accused individuals. Reports indicate that two of the suspects were apprehended in the Pipili area, while the other two were arrested in Nimapara. Investigations are ongoing to clarify the circumstances surrounding the alleged crimes.

On Sunday night, tensions flared in the area as supporters of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) staged a protest regarding the case. Protesters claimed that the accused had ties to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and alleged that the Nimapara police were attempting to downplay the situation and resolve the case quietly.
