Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], September 28 (ANI): In a vibrant celebration of fitness and tourism, thousands of individuals across Odisha participated in a statewide Promo Run on World Tourism Day, organized by the Department of Tourism, Government of Odisha, to promote the forthcoming OMC Puri Coastal Marathon 2026.
This initiative, which took place at 32 locations across various districts and Municipal Corporations, saw more than 10,000 runners join in a significant statewide running movement, all advocating for a healthier and more active Odisha.
It marked a historic occasion as it was the first time such a large-scale running event was held simultaneously in multiple locations within the state, coinciding with the celebration of World Tourism Day.
Runners, local citizens, community groups, and stakeholders came together from urban areas to district towns, transforming the Promo Run into a unified celebration of health, fitness, and the tourism potential of Odisha.
Authorities at both the district and corporation levels played an essential role in the successful execution of this event, collaborating closely with the Department of Tourism and local partners to ensure participation across all locations.
This event also served as the inaugural promotional activity leading up to the OMC Puri Coastal Marathon 2026, which is set to take place on December 13 in Puri.
The marathon aims to provide a distinctive sporting and tourism experience, bringing together runners while highlighting Odisha’s rich cultural heritage, stunning natural landscapes, beautiful coastline, warm hospitality, and the spiritual significance of Puri.
The synchronized running events across Odisha emphasized that running can effectively promote healthier lifestyles while raising awareness about tourism destinations and sporting initiatives.
With the successful conclusion of the statewide Promo Run, Odisha has established an exciting lead-up to the OMC Puri Coastal Marathon 2026, as the state prepares to host this significant running event in Puri this December.
The focus now shifts to Puri, where the OMC Puri Coastal Marathon will merge the essence of running, tourism, and Odisha’s unique cultural and natural identity on December 13.
