Four individuals lost their lives in two distinct road accidents in Odisha’s Kandhamal and Jajpur districts late on Friday night, leading police to initiate inquiries into both cases.
The first incident took place near Mahasingh Bridge within the Baliguda police jurisdiction in Kandhamal district. Preliminary reports indicate that an unidentified vehicle allegedly collided with a motorcycle carrying three people. The crash was severe, resulting in two victims dying at the scene, while the third succumbed to injuries during treatment at the Baliguda Sub-Divisional Hospital.
Authorities stated that the identities of the deceased have yet to be confirmed. A search is underway to locate the vehicle involved, and investigators are analyzing evidence from the accident site to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
In another unfortunate event, one person was killed and another critically injured when a car reportedly struck a motorcycle near Ghusuriasahi Bridge in Jajpur district. The injured individual was transported to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
Police have filed separate cases in both districts and are probing the precise causes of the accidents. Efforts are also being made to identify the vehicles involved and to collect additional evidence, including eyewitness testimonies and any available CCTV footage.
These dual tragedies have once again underscored the escalating concerns regarding road safety in Odisha. Authorities have urged motorists to adhere to traffic regulations, maintain safe speeds, and drive cautiously, especially during nighttime hours, to help avert such deadly accidents.
