Amaravati, July 28: In a devastating incident in the Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh, three devotees lost their lives and 13 others sustained injuries after their van was collided with by a truck, according to local police.
The collision took place shortly after midnight near Chelluru when the truck crashed into the parked van. Tragically, three individuals, including a young boy, were pronounced dead at the scene, while the remaining 13 were injured.
Reports indicate that the speeding truck dragged the van for approximately 500 meters before coming to a halt.
The van was carrying 16 individuals from three families who were en route from Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram districts to the Majji Gauramma temple located in Rayagada, Odisha, for a pilgrimage.
The victims have been identified as Chintapalli Rambabu, also known as Ramanaidu (50), Majji Narayana Rao (50), and B. Mohan Naidu (8).
Those injured have been transported to a government hospital in Vizianagaram, where one individual is reported to be in critical condition.
Authorities have initiated an investigation and filed a case regarding the incident.
In a separate accident in Krishna district, one individual was killed early Tuesday morning on the Chennai-Kolkata highway near Bommaluru. In this incident, a car collided with a stationary truck, resulting in the immediate death of the driver, identified as Nunna Suresh, managing director of Tirumala Educational Institutions in Rajamahendravaram. His wife, who was in the passenger seat, sustained injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.
In another accident in Telangana, 12 passengers were injured when a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation bus collided with a tree. This incident occurred near the Metpally Police Station in Jagtial district as the bus was traveling from Nizamabad to Warangal. It is believed that the driver lost control, leading to the collision with the tree. The injured passengers were admitted to a hospital in Metpally, and officials are currently investigating the matter.
