President Droupadi Murmu has officially delayed her upcoming two-day visit to Mayurbhanj, her home district, by one week due to an impending cyclonic storm in the Bay of Bengal.
The President was originally set to visit the area on October 28 and 29. However, district officials and sources indicated that the decision was made following unfavorable weather predictions and safety considerations.
As stated by the Mayurbhanj Collector, the plans have not been scrapped but simply rescheduled. The revised dates for President Murmu’s visit are now November 4 and 5.
During her two-day stay in Odisha, she is anticipated to visit a number of significant sites, which include:
- Her hometown of Rairangpur
- The historic Maa Kichakeswari Temple located in Bahalda
- The mining community of Gorumahisani
- Various local development and cultural outreach initiatives
Local government and disaster management teams throughout coastal and interior Odisha are currently on high alert as the meteorological department keeps track of the developing weather conditions in the Bay of Bengal. Updates regarding the detailed itinerary will be shared as the new visit dates approach.
