In Jharkhand’s Simdega district, four suspects were taken into custody following the seizure of 83 kg of ganja from an ambulance, as reported by police on Thursday. The drugs were reportedly being trafficked from Odisha with the intent to deliver them in Ranchi.
Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Dharmadev Paswan stated that law enforcement received a tip-off regarding the transportation of ganja in an ambulance traveling through Simdega.
Responding to the alert, police initiated a vehicle-checking operation in the Kolebira police station jurisdiction on Wednesday. Upon noticing the police, an ambulance reportedly attempted to evade capture but was successfully intercepted, according to Paswan.
A thorough search of the ambulance revealed 82.98 kg of ganja, which was neatly packed into 83 packets and stored within three sacks. Additionally, officers discovered Rs 27,000 in cash during the operation.
The individuals arrested have been identified as Ravi Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Bharat Bhusan, and Mohit Pandey, according to the officer’s statement.
