The administration of the Shree Jagannath Temple is working on an online platform and a mobile application to provide special darshan services for elderly and differently-abled devotees.
In Puri, the SJTA has made advancements at the North Gate of Srimandir to ensure that elderly and differently-abled visitors can have a seamless darshan experience.
As part of this initiative, a ramp and railings have been constructed from the North Gate Gumuta to the Kurma Bedha. Additionally, specially trained volunteers will be stationed to assist these devotees during their temple visits.
These volunteers will guide devotees to the Natamandap or Jagamohan for their darshan.
Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, the Chief Administrator of the temple, stated that the temple is in the process of creating an online platform and a dedicated mobile app to allow eligible devotees to utilize this facility.
Initially, the program will accommodate 50 elderly and differently-abled devotees each day, who can register online or through the mobile app.
A recent meeting chaired by the Governor of Odisha explored the option of recruiting trained volunteers from the Indian Red Cross Society and St John Ambulance for this initiative. The Chief Administrator has reached out to the Puri Collector, who is also the District Red Cross Society chairman, to request the necessary number of trained volunteers.
Padhee emphasized that ensuring an easy and pleasant darshan experience for all devotees is a top priority for the temple administration.
In related news, the Shree Gundicha Temple opened its doors to the public on Wednesday, September 30. The temple administration, along with local authorities and police, has made the required arrangements to facilitate smooth and organized darshan for visitors.
Special provisions for elderly and differently-abled devotees have also been established at the Gundicha Temple, including free darshan access, wheelchairs, volunteer support, and a ramp at the Natamandap.
