CHENNAI: A constable from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) showcased remarkable bravery by rescuing a passenger from Assam who had fallen between a moving train and the platform at Tambaram railway station. This incident occurred just moments before the train came to a halt, and it garnered praise from onlookers who witnessed the heroic act.

As the Dasara festival approaches, many guest workers from North India are returning to their home states. In response, the railways have introduced weekly special trains for destinations including West Bengal, Assam, Bihar, Odisha, and Jharkhand. On Tuesday, a special train to Assam arrived at approximately noon.

As hundreds of workers rushed to board the train before it stopped, Imam Hussain, 50, slipped and fell into the gap between the train and the platform. RPF constable Ameer Singh Meena responded promptly, instructing Hussain to hold onto the platform and not lean towards the moving train. Once the train halted, Meena successfully lifted the passenger, who managed to hang on without losing his grip.

Fortunately, Hussain was uninjured and continued his journey to Assam, expressing gratitude towards the RPF personnel for their timely intervention. Both fellow passengers and railway officials commended the constable for his valuable advice and calm demeanor during the rescue.
