Sandeep Khirwar, an IPS officer from the Haryana cadre and currently serving as Additional Director General (ADG) in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), has been designated as the Special Director General of the CRPF.
He will take on this role effective immediately and will serve until his retirement on May 31, 2033, or until further notice, whichever comes first.
Khirwar is one of six IPS officers from the 1995 batch whose promotions to senior roles within the CRPF, Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and Intelligence Bureau (IB) received approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on Thursday.
The new appointments feature two officers, including Khirwar, assigned as Special Director Generals in the CRPF, two others designated as Special DGs in the BSF, one officer as Special DG in the CISF, and one as Special Director in the IB.
Rajesh Kumar, an IPS officer from the AGMUT cadre, currently serving as ADG in the CRPF, has also been appointed as Special Director General of the CRPF on a temporary basis with an in-situ upgrade.
This appointment is set for a duration of two years from the date he assumes charge.
Puneet Rastogi, a Tripura cadre IPS officer presently working as ADG in the BSF, will take on the role of Special Director General in the BSF, effective from his start date until June 30, 2030, or until further directives are issued.
Additionally, Satish Shriramaji Khandare, another AGMUT cadre IPS officer currently serving as ADG in the BSF, has been appointed as Special Director General, BSF. This appointment is linked to the reinstatement of a previously downgraded position and will be valid until June 30, 2031.
Padmakar S Ranipse, an Odisha cadre IPS officer serving as ADG in the Central Industrial Security Force, has been named Special Director General of the CISF, also through temporary in-situ elevation. His term will last until he retires on May 31, 2028.
Finally, Jag Mohan, a Bihar cadre IPS officer who is currently an Additional Director in the Intelligence Bureau, has been designated as Special Director, IB. This appointment will take effect upon his assumption of charge and will continue until his retirement on June 30, 2031, or until further orders.
