Cuttack: A data entry operator employed at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, Odisha, has been arrested in connection with an alleged financial fraud amounting to Rs 1.40 crore.

The suspect, who worked in the office of the Superintendent, was previously detained by Mangalabag Police for interrogation after the Superintendent filed a complaint indicating misappropriation of funds.

Mangalabag Police have initiated a case under Section 316(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Initial investigations have uncovered that 207 transactions were processed to a single bank account over the past decade. The operator’s responsibilities included managing salary-related tasks for employees, which is believed to have been exploited to misdirect funds.

Authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing to determine the method of the financial misconduct, the potential involvement of additional individuals, and the destination of the diverted funds.
