Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning may affect at least nine districts in Odisha within the next three hours, according to a warning issued on Saturday.

The alert, released at 11 am, indicates that light rain along with thunderstorms and lightning is likely to occur in isolated areas of Mayurbhanj, Kendujhar, Boudhagad, Kandhamala, Jharsuguda, Sundaragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, and Anugola districts during this period.

The weather agency has advised the public to stay vigilant and monitor changing weather conditions closely. Residents are encouraged to adjust outdoor plans and take necessary precautions for their safety.

As a safety measure, individuals are urged to avoid open fields, refrain from seeking shelter under trees, and steer clear of electric poles and wires during thunderstorms.
