Jamshedpur: Authorities apprehended a drug trafficker from Bihar and confiscated 33 kg of cannabis, estimated to be worth around Rs 16 lakh, near the interstate bus terminus. The suspect was allegedly en route from Odisha to Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh when he was stopped close to the Mango bus stand following a tip-off, according to police reports.

SP (City) Lalit Meena stated that on Sunday, the police received precise intelligence regarding an individual with a significant quantity of cannabis waiting near the restroom adjacent to Gate No. 5 of the bus station. In response, a special team, under the leadership of Anand Kumar Mishra, the officer-in-charge of Sitaramdera police station, executed a raid and detained the suspect.

Investigators are currently reviewing his call detail records (CDR) and other technical data to identify the origin of the drugs and potential recipients. “Following the registration of an FIR, he was presented in court and placed in judicial custody,” the SP added.
