An elderly woman was reportedly killed by assailants in her residence in Khordha district, Odisha, late Friday night.

The incident took place in Uparabasta village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Jatni police. This tragic event has instilled fear in the local community.

Initial police investigations suggest that the woman may have been murdered with robbery as the motive. The victim has been identified as Shantilata Pradhan, who lived alone, as her son was hospitalized due to health issues.

Reports indicate that unidentified intruders broke into her home during the night and launched a brutal attack. She suffered fatal head injuries and died instantly from the assault.

Family members found Shantilata in a pool of blood and promptly notified the Jatni police.

Upon receiving the alert, law enforcement quickly arrived at the scene, retrieved the body, and arranged for a post-mortem examination. An investigation has been initiated to uncover the circumstances surrounding the murder.
