Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has indicated that the COVID-19 situation in the state is not alarming, with current cases being mild and akin to common flu or seasonal influenza.

Dr. Rabindranath Mishra, the Director of Public Health, addressed the media, saying, “There is no need to panic. Nowadays COVID is like common influenza. We do not have any reports on any COVID outbreak.”

He mentioned that the department learned about the cases in Ganjam district through media reports. At present, two individuals are in home isolation, and one patient has been hospitalized. All patients are stable and under close observation.

Reports indicate that a female patient has tested positive for COVID-19 at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, located in Ganjam district, where she is receiving treatment.

The emergence of new cases in Odisha has drawn attention following a spike in neighboring Andhra Pradesh. The Health Department confirmed that it is monitoring the situation closely, adhering to the guidelines and protocols set by the Government of India.

Health officials have reassured the public that the overall scenario in the state remains well-managed and under control.
