A minor dispute over plucking moringa (drumsticks) turned deadly in Odisha’s Rajnagar area of Kendrapara district on Thursday. A young man was killed after being attacked with a spade during a clash between two neighboring families at Ishanipala village.
The deceased has been identified as Kailash Mallick, a resident of Kajalbandha village under Pattamundai.
According to reports, an argument broke out between the neighbours over plucking drumsticks from a tree. The verbal altercation soon escalated into a violent confrontation.
During the clash, Kailash was allegedly attacked with a crowbar and suffered critical injuries. He was rushed for medical treatment but succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, another person, identified as Rajkishore Nayak, sustained serious injuries in the incident. He has been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
The incident has created tension in the village, and police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the fatal attack. Further details are awaited.
