Bhubaneswar: The southwest monsoon is anticipated to arrive in Odisha ahead of the Raja festival, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar.
As per the forecast, the monsoon is expected to reach certain areas of south Odisha within the next 2-3 days.
The monsoon current has already progressed into parts of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, with conditions remaining favorable for its further advancement into the west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Nor’wester or Kalabaisakhi alert for the entire state from today until June 14. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are anticipated during this timeframe.
Heavy rainfall is expected in Koraput and Malkangiri districts on June 11. On June 12, intense showers may occur in Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Gajapati districts.
Due to strong winds and rough seas along the Odisha coast, fishermen are advised against venturing into the sea on June 12 and 13.
The Nor’wester-induced rainfall is projected to persist in the state until June 14, according to the weather alert from the Meteorological Department.
