Light Rain in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack Provides Relief; More Showers Expected in the Coming Days

Parts of the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack experienced light rainfall accompanied by gusty winds on Saturday morning, marking a brief shift in weather conditions.

The unexpected showers were recorded between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM, with cloudy skies and intermittent winds noted across various areas.

In Bhubaneswar, light rain was observed in several localities, including the airport vicinity, railway station square, Acharya Vihar, Janpath, Nayapalli, and Khandagiri-Khurda Road areas.

Similarly, in Cuttack, regions such as Barabati Stadium locality, Mangalabag, Chaudwar Road, and Nayabazar also experienced light rain and winds.

Despite the rainfall, there were no reports of waterlogging or traffic disruptions, although commuters and pedestrians were caught off guard by the sudden weather change.

According to the India Meteorological Department, a low-pressure system over the north coastal Odisha region is influencing the current weather pattern.

This system is expected to bring light to moderate rainfall, along with possible thunderstorms and gusty winds to districts including Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Cuttack, and Bhubaneswar over the next two days.

Weather scientist Manorama Mohanty from the regional meteorological centre in Bhubaneswar indicated that light rain may persist in some areas throughout the day, accompanied by cool winds.

She noted that temperatures are likely to remain slightly lower than usual, providing temporary relief from the rising heat levels.

Residents are advised to stay informed about weather alerts and take necessary precautions during thunderstorms or strong winds. The rainfall is expected to be scattered, without major disruptions.
