Jajpur: A devastating incident occurred on Sunday in which a five-year-old girl lost her life and her parents were left in critical condition following a fire that is suspected to have originated from a gas leak in a village in Odisha’s Jajpur district.
Initial reports indicate that the fire erupted in the morning at Arabala village, located in the Dharmasala area of the district.
As per sources, 35-year-old Tilottama Malik was preparing breakfast when a gas pipe seemingly burst, igniting a fire that resulted in injuries to several family members.
The couple’s daughter, Mamali Malik, was quickly transported to the Dharmasala Community Health Centre (CHC) alongside other injured relatives, but doctors pronounced her dead upon arrival.
Both Abhiram and Tilottama Malik suffered serious injuries, and the girl’s uncle, Uttam Malik, aged 50, was also hurt during the incident.
After receiving initial care at the Dharmasala CHC, the injured individuals were transferred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack due to their deteriorating conditions.
Emergency services, including fire personnel and police from the Kotpur outpost, were dispatched to the scene and have since initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire.
