Three individuals have been taken into custody after a young couple was reportedly assaulted and harassed on a road leading to Kapilash in Dhenkanal district, Odisha. A video that has emerged online shows a group surrounding the couple, during which the male was assaulted while the female pleaded for their release.

The incident reportedly occurred while the couple was traveling by motorcycle to Kapilash, a well-known tourist spot. In the disturbing footage, several individuals can be seen surrounding the pair, with the male victim being attacked and inappropriate actions directed towards the female, who repeatedly asked the group to let them go.

The exact circumstances that led to this confrontation remain unclear, including the reason behind the stop, any prior acquaintance with the assailants, or whether a dispute had occurred before the filming.

According to Pratap Dalei, the inspector-in-charge of the Gondia police station, three men identified as Saroj Nayak, 41, Samir Nayak, 37, and Sangram Rath have been arrested in connection with the incident. “We are investigating the entire sequence of events that led to the dispute,” Dalei stated.

As investigations continue, authorities are looking into the chain of events that preceded the confrontation.

This incident in Dhenkanal follows closely on the heels of another case in Bihar’s Jamui district, where a minor boy and girl were reportedly assaulted. The Jamui police arrested three suspects on Monday and are actively searching for additional individuals involved in the September 19 incident. Jamui Superintendent of Police Bishwajeet Dayal mentioned that a Special Investigation Team led by a female officer has been established to identify and apprehend all involved parties.

Both incidents have sparked significant attention on social media, especially following the release of their respective videos, though the details and context of each case are still under police scrutiny.
