Residents in regions projected to receive substantial rainfall are being urged to remain vigilant and adhere to local weather advisories, particularly in areas prone to flooding, waterlogging, and strong winds.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted extensive rainfall across northern, central, eastern, northeastern, western, and southern India for Saturday, August 8. The latest predictions released by the IMD indicate that many locations could experience moderate to heavy rain in the upcoming days, with some areas also likely to encounter thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.

Rain Forecast for North India

Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are set to witness widespread rainfall beginning Saturday. Similar weather patterns are anticipated in Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi on August 8.

The IMD has issued a warning for isolated heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Additionally, East Uttar Pradesh and West Rajasthan may also experience heavy rainfall in certain areas, while East Rajasthan could see very heavy rain in isolated locations.

Heavy Rain Expected in East and Central India

Several eastern states are expected to receive significant rainfall. Areas including Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to see widespread rain.

The weather department has predicted isolated very heavy rainfall in Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha on Saturday. Jharkhand and Bihar are also anticipated to receive rain, with heavy downpours expected in some places.

In central India, isolated heavy rain is predicted for East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh on August 8. Rainfall activity is also expected to continue in parts of Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha in the following days.

Northeast to Experience Rain

The Northeast is also forecasted to receive considerable rainfall. The IMD has predicted rain across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, and other northeastern regions.

Arunachal Pradesh may encounter isolated heavy rain on Saturday, with thunderstorms and lightning also possible. Assam and Meghalaya, along with Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, are expected to remain wet in the coming days.

Rain Anticipated in Maharashtra and Gujarat

In western India, Konkan and Goa are projected to receive widespread rainfall from August 8 to 13. Madhya Maharashtra may also experience substantial rain on Saturday, while Marathwada is expected to see scattered showers.

The IMD has issued a warning for isolated heavy rainfall in Konkan and Goa on August 8, with thunderstorms and lightning possible in parts of Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Rain Warnings for Southern India

Southern India is also expected to experience rainy conditions. Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe are forecasted to see widespread rainfall over the next few days.

The IMD has issued warnings for heavy rain in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, as well as in Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka on August 8. Isolated areas in Coastal Karnataka may experience very heavy rainfall.

Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are also anticipated in parts of Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, with wind speeds potentially reaching 40-50 kmph and gusts up to 60 kmph in some regions.

IMD Issues Fishermen Advisory

The IMD has cautioned fishermen to avoid several sea areas due to rough weather conditions.

This advisory includes regions in the Arabian Sea, particularly along and off the coasts of Karnataka and Kerala, as well as Lakshadweep and the Oman coast. Warnings have also been issued for parts of the Bay of Bengal, covering areas along the coasts of West Bengal, Odisha, and north Andhra Pradesh.

Furthermore, the weather department has identified a low to moderate risk of flash floods in certain watersheds and neighboring areas in Odisha, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh over the next 24 hours. Waterlogging and surface runoff may occur in low-lying areas, especially where the soil is already saturated.
