Bhubaneswar/Phulbani: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has declared that the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) located in Phulbani will be renamed in memory of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati. This change is a tribute to the saint’s lifelong commitment and sacrifices made for the benefit of the tribal populations in Kandhamal.
While paying homage to Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati, the Chief Minister noted that the decision seeks to honor his lasting influence and acknowledge his efforts in the fields of education, social service, and tribal development in Odisha.
Moreover, the CM has allocated Rs 13 crore from the Chief Minister’s Special Assistance Fund to support the preservation and enhancement of the Jaleshpata Ashram, the Ashram School, and the Kanyashram that were established by the saint.
As stated by the Chief Minister’s Office, these funds will be used to maintain the heritage of the Jaleshpata Ashram, while also improving the educational and living facilities for students.
